Jelena Novikov Fried
Jelena is a highly skilled lawyer with a focus on corporate securities law, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and commercial law.
At Caravel Law, Jelena provides a broad range of business law services to clients ranging from start-up ventures to established businesses. Her goals are to offer practical legal advice focused on day-to-day business issues and long-term objectives that help support each stage of business growth, along with transaction-specific guidance and support.
Jelena has acted for underwriters and issuers in a number of financings, mergers and acquisitions, and joint venture transactions. She also has experience in advising on general corporate, governance and compliance matters.
Previously, Jelena’s in-house focus at the Canadian Bankers Association was on securities law and policy. Her specific areas of work have included prospectus disclosure rules, early warning reporting, notice-access for proxy solicitation, derivatives and securitized products regulation, securities enforcement, corporate boards constitution, and cost disclosure and performance reporting.
