Anita has substantial expertise in drafting, negotiating, structuring, and advising on a wide variety of complex software, hardware and other technology arrangements including licensing, maintenance and support, outsourcing, and consulting agreements.
Anita’s practice has an emphasis on providing clients with strategic advice regarding electronic commerce, document retention and information security matters, as well as other legal issues arising in the fields of technology, health informatics, life sciences and the arts. She is regularly involved in strategic acquisitions, reorganizations, joint ventures and procurement processes both in and out of the technology sector.
Previously, as a Partner at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP, Anita focused on technology and intellectual property law matters. Anita is the co-author of E-Commerce Law: Corporate-commercial Aspects, a book that has been described by the Canadian Legal LEXPERT Directory as an important work in the area of computer and IT law, as well as a contributing author on IT security compliance in Outsourcing Transactions: A Practical Guide.
She has served as a Director of the Canadian IT Law Association, the Toronto Computer Lawyers’ Group and the Ontario Cancer Research Ethics Board and spoken nationally and internationally on topics relating to information technology and bioethics.
An innovator and entrepreneur in her own right, Anita is the inventor of a patented breastfeeding garment system that she has incorporated into and commercialized as her own collection of upscale nursingwear.

Negotiated Source Code Licenses for Global SAAS Developer
Drafted and negotiated source code licenses on behalf of global software design and development agency.
Negotiated PACS Agreement
Represented a publicly-funded telehealth services provider in the negotiation of its picture archiving and telecommunications system (PACS) agreement with a leading health informatics vendor. Services included in-depth RFP and proposal review and leading the drafting and negotiation process.
Advised on Restructuring of Leading Advertising Firm
Guided top-tier Canadian advertising agency in the restructuring of its business and the negotiation of amended stakeholder agreements.
Negotiated Wireless Emergency Communication System Arrangement
Advised a regional municipality in the negotiation and implementation of a wireless emergency communication system for use by its fire, ambulance and municipal emergency service units. Worked closely with all stakeholders to draft and negotiate a complex agreement successfully capturing all key elements of the underlying procurement process.
Developed Online Licensing Procedures for Professionals
Advised a national professional body in the taking of its licensing procedures online. Provided strategic analysis of applicable electronic documents laws and drafted appropriate online agreements and models for acceptance.
Advised on Commercialization of Water Purification Technology
Advised an entrepreneur in respect of a joint venture to exploit novel water purification technology. Led drafting and negotiation of joint venture and commercialization agreements.
