Avi Weisman

Avi is a corporate and commercial lawyer with expertise in digital media, e-commerce, cybersecurity, and marketing.

At Caravel, Avi works with clients in different industries, on a broad range of matters, including but not limited to technology, advertising and marketing, licensing and other intellectual property matters, cyber security, digital media, and employment law related matters.  Avi has developed extensive knowledge and expertise having worked within both large institutional companies, as well as successful entrepreneurial “start-ups”.  Avi has experience in drafting and negotiating various corporate/commercial agreements including Master Service Agreements, Licensing Agreements, Sponsorship Agreements, Employment Agreements, and Digital Media Buys.

Previously, Avi was the General Counsel at a leading technology company that suffered one of the world’s largest data breaches.  Avi was responsible for the Legal and HR functions at the organization, and specifically for the legal and regulatory response following the cyber breach.  This expertise included working with and negotiating with regulatory agencies globally, including the Canadian Privacy Commissioner.

Avi is also an Adjunct Professor at Ryerson University’s Ted Rogers School of Management, where he has been teaching Business Law since 2010.  Moreover, Avi has Board experience having worked as an Advisory Board Member of Cycura Inc., a leading global Cybr Security, Incident Response, and Data Forensic company.  Avi has been invited to speak at several high-profile Legal Conferences on the topic, including recently speaking on a panel at LegalTech in NYC.
